Four Things to Avoid Post Panda
Getting links from social media used to be all the rage, but is it still safe to do post Penguin and Panda? Will social media links cause a penalty from Google?
Penguin 2 went into affect last Friday, October 4th. Make sure you are playing by Google’s rules for ranking in their SERPS.
If your anchor text is an exact match to your keywords and doesn’t make descriptive, readable sense, scrap it and give your anchor text more clickable and-appealing, descriptive words. (That goes for the Alt Tag text for your graphics, too.)
Here is an interesting read link building mistakes.
Generating multiple links with exactly-matching anchor text. For example, instead of having “solve your dog’s dandruff” as the anchor text seven times within a Sales page with multiple links, vary that text like so: “End your dog’s dandruff problem”, “Dandruff solution for dogs”, “Yes, I want to end my canine’s dandruff”.
Here are a few suggestions you can apply when it comes to safe link building and SEO. The key ingredient is to make each anchor text unique.
1. The focus is no longer keyword density
Times have changed since the Google updates. No longer is the focus on keywords when posting to social media, but instead unique URLs.
2. Create a variety of anchor text
Now that we no longer focus on root words, the idea is to completely mix up your terms, and even create alternatives, which brings us back to our thesaurus for research on the variety of words to use.
3. Use regular links on social media
Rather than focus on anchor text, it can be a benefit for you to use unique URLs in your tweets and posts.
4. Use generic anchor text terms
Because of Google’s new algorithm stick with terms such as “my article,” or “the post” instead of specific keywords when posting an article or on social media.
The bottom line is that you no longer need to focus on matching keywords to your anchor text. Variety will help you to continue link building, and be in line with Google search engine standards. This will ensure your content stays on their ‘good side,’ as well.
