Twitter Tips for Increased Engagement
When it comes to attracting readers to your tweets it is important to understand the click-through rates on Twitter. Not all tweets are the same, and many times our content can be passed by simply by missing a few important steps.
Success on Twitter is based on how many followers you have, the amount of retweets and mentions, and how you are engaging with others in your niche. Additionally, when you include links your click-through rates will increase.
So what are the best ways to attract people to click on your links on Twitter? Here are few steps you can start today:

1. Increase visibility with images

Sharing quotes, photos, and updates on Twitter will attract more clicks and retweets. In fact, in a recent article on Buffer, image tweets can increase clicks by 18% and retweets by 150%. Take a look at the engagement one of my recent tweets:

2. Leave room on tweets

When we send out the maximum number of 140 characters on Twitter, the chances of that content being shared goes down. It is recommended through research by Hubspot’s Dan Zarrella to create 120 – 130 character tweets in order to attract more click-through rates. Use services like Hootsuite, Buffer, and SocialOomph to help determine the number of characters, including any links and photos.

3. Wash, rinse, and repeat

Once you send out an article, image tweet, quote, ect. there is a ready audience, but these people are typically on Twitter at certain times of the day. Consider sharing your tweets with new content and hashtags to reach out to a wider number of followers.

4. Use action words

Another great way to increase click-through rates is to use call-out phrases such as ‘RT,’ ‘Must-Read,’ ‘Must-see’ and ‘Check’ in your tweets. Strategically add the right hashtags and keywords when possible, and pay attention to the words that are trending for your topic.

5. Pay attention to higher tweet posting times

It is important to know when your audience is engaging on Twitter. Content that is shared on weekends and in the afternoons during the week tends to have higher click-through rates. You will also want to gauge when your followers are tweeting and responding, keeping in mind their geographical location.

6. Put your shortened links to work for you

By simply adding a keyword to your brand’s links, Bit.ly reports that these tend to see more clicks by as much as 500 percent! More on how to set this up for your business can be found here.
Make these Twitter marketing strategies work for you, and watch your click-through rate and engagement grow!
