When you are waiting for a reply to your request for help from a company for a problem you are experiencing, have you ever thought or said, “Why haven’t I received a response yet?” Yep, I thought so. This is probably the one most common customer service asked.
But did you know that your Klout Score can actually affect the speed of receiving your awaited reply from a customer service request? This is just one way that social influence has become more of a standard than even years of work experience. I’ve noticed the difference my Klout score has made, first hand.
Three years ago very few of us paid any attention to a startup company called Klout, based in San Francisco, California. But through its unique algorithm and social measurement tools the world has taken notice and today your Klout score can be a huge factor in meeting prospects, getting a promotion, customer service, hotel and shopping rewards, and more – including better response time.
Your Klout Score Reveals Influence
If you are active on Twitter and Facebook, you have a Klout score whether you are aware of this or not. Other networks like Google Plus, Instagram, and LinkedIn also play a role in factoring in your score, with Twitter being the most influential. Recently Klout has redesigned its network, to allow for social sharing and connecting with other high-score users.
So how do you increase your Klout score?
There several steps you can take today to increase your level of influence on Klout, which, believe it or not, is having a big impact both online and offline.
1. Create frequent tweets
This might sound simple, but posting frequently on Twitter will help increase your score. The key is to stay focused, sharing relevant information to your audience and niche. Include retweets of other high influencers for increased engagement.
2. Don’t spread yourself too thin
When going ‘off-topic’ it’s difficult for your followers and Klout to pinpoint your area of expertise. This will directly impact your Topic list on the social measurement network, so be sure to include hashtags relevant to your brand or company.
3. Connect with high score Klout influencers
This should be developed and nurtured over time, and includes the sharing of ideas, compliments, and giving +K’s on Klout as well as thanking others for doing the same.
4. Keep the mood positive
Avoid getting into heated discussions and arguments, especially on Twitter and Facebook. Inspirational or motivational tweets and posts are always a great way to drive engagement.
Are you curious about your current Twitter connections? The good news is that if you use the Firefox browser you can see the Klout score of those you are interacting with through an add-on tool found here.
John Hancock once said, “The greatest ability in business is to get along with others and to influence their actions.” Your social media activity is reflected in your Klout score, and shows a person’s meaningful influence.
Whether you are seeking a new career or building a brand, Klout has become the modern rating system of our day, and can help you attract more prospects and even perks.
