Yesterday most people here in the US gathered around their dining tables with friends and family to show their thanks for a bountiful life and each other in Thanksgiving celebration. It occurred to me that I’d like to do that virtually here with you which means I’m going to pause from my typical online and social media marketing to show my gratitude.
I want to say ‘thank you’ for being a part of my life and community; and, share my list of the top 5 things I’m grateful for in my business.
I’m so grateful for …
My clients, team members and everyone in my community
I get to work with the most purpose-driven, passionate, generous people – authors, coaches, consultants, experts and entrepreneurs. Many I count among my very dearest friends. I wouldn’t have my business without each and every one of you.
The Internet
I have traveled to so many wonderful places around the world and the Internet has helped me maintain my connection with friends, family and my work. I love knowing that I have clients and staff all across the globe. No longer am I limited to do business in one place only. No longer do I communicate with only those in my own location. My life is richer and has broadened with experiences not possible without the internet.
My home office
I am incredibly lucky that my work commute is a short walk across my driveway with my dogs that are with me throughout the day. Having the ability to live so close to nature makes even the most stressful days better than they would be otherwise. The sound of a woodpecker in the tree outside, my miniature horses pounding on the stall door to signal it’s time to go out into the pasture, the snuggles I get from my dogs (on my lap and at my feet) is a lifestyle I’ve created to match my personality.
Systems
Not having a system is like waking up each day and figuring out everything from scratch, every single day. It’s amazing to me that people take a list to the grocery store and print out driving directions for a trip to a new place; but, they work in their businesses without so much as a plan, a process map or a checklist!
I’m grateful for systems I created that help my clients to craft their messages and attract clients to their business consistently. I love having templates and checklists that help us all know what to do or say. And I couldn’t be where I am today without having a plan.
Mentors
I’ve often done things the hard way – stumbling along while climbing a learning curve that was fraught with detours and unrecoverable cliffs. I can’t imagine the amount of time, and the sometimes year I could have saved by just going straight to people who knew how to create the process I needed. Once I found that having a mentor made all the difference in the world, I’ve never looked back. Sometimes I revised my whole business based on their advice, but in other cases, I simply took one small puzzle piece which made the whole picture come to life. I now get to be a mentor for others and it warms my heart to help them avoid an otherwise difficult road, saving them time and money and mistakes.
Now it’s your turn – I’d love to hear your business gratitude list, too.
I’m looking forward to reading them!
