Authors Can Now Pre-Sell Books on AmazonUse Amazon KDP to Create a Buzz for Your eBook

….even before it’s published!
Are you an author who has longed for a pre-sale option? The wait is over!

Authors can now list their new eBook(s) on Amazon’s Kindle through KDP anytime 5 to 90 days prior to it being published. Until recently this was only available for the ‘big guys,’ but now independent publishers will have more of an opportunity to create a buzz for their new title(s).
One of the perks of the new program is the ability to announce your book on Amazon’s Author Central and Goodreads as well as your own website. Amazon will allow for up ten new and not previously published books to be available for pre-order, which counts toward your sales rank.
To get started all you need is a final draft manuscript that is ready to upload by following these simple steps:
1. Login to your KDP (www.kdp.amazon.com) account then go to the Bookshelf menu. Select the Add New Title button to begin the process.

2. Next, follow the steps to enter the title, which leads to the upload and preview of your content. Amazon will ask to confirm the publishing rights after which you may enter the price and royalty information.
3. Once you have filled out all of the pertinent information for your book Amazon will now give you the option of selecting ‘pre-order’ in Step 4:

4. Now you are ready to set a release date, which is 5 to 90 days ahead of time. After this proceed as usual in selecting the book cover and manuscript upload. Once submitted, Amazon will make your pre-order eBook available on their website after 12 hours. The 1-Click option for customers will now appear as ‘Pre-Order’ instead of ‘Buy Now.’ And because it is not published yet, the look inside option will only be available after it has been officially released.

Red flag alert:

If you uploaded a draft manuscript during this pre-order time, don’t forget to upload your final manuscript at least 10 days before your book’s release date.  If you miss this crucial step,  Amazon will remove your eligibility for the pre-order program for one year! Do NOT mess this up as it could cost you dearly, and upset your readers.
Currently Amazon is allowing for only new KDP books to be a part of the pre-order program for authors and publishers.  Consider using this option for your next release, and be sure to encourage your readers and followers on social media to not only make the purchase early, but leave a review on Amazon to let others know what they think of your book!
