How The Facebook Page Re-Design Has Improved
Last March Facebook announced a brand new design for Pages, which offers a more streamlined look. The goal is to help users easily find the content that they are looking for without too much distraction. In the past couple of weeks more of us are starting to see the new roll out, and there are a few changes to be aware of as a Page owner. Let’s take a look at my business page which reflects the new changes: Susan Gilbert’s Facebook Page
The first difference to note is the new one-column design, with a restructuring of tabs, which now appears in the ‘More’ section on your Page:
Now, all of your posts are in a single view, just as they are in the News Feed:
This change does not affect the Timeline image or Profile photo sizing. But the new design provides a left column, which now contains all of the information about your Page. Notice that this can include your business address, phone number, website information, photos, videos, hours of operation, and more. The great news is that all of the important call outs for your brand or business are now in one place.
Page admins are now able to quickly view their insights and statistics, beginning with a column on the top right of the Page:
And now the Insights Tab is quick to find and access, with an updated look to the graph:
As a part of the new update, Facebook will also be adding a new Pages to Watch feature in the Insights section. This will allow admins to make a list of Pages similar to theirs so that they can compare, and make adjustments as necessary. So far I am not seeing this on my Page, but here is what the new feature will look like:
The new Facebook Page design was due for an official wide release by June 6 for all Pages, but this still remains to be seen. While many brands and businesses will embrace the new look, there is still some debate as to whether this is a change to promote more advertising. Facebook Pages is still a free service, and could serve as a better way for us to promote and engage and with Fans.
What about you? Has the new design shown up on your Page yet?
